A new way to integrate better thinking into your business ...
... and unlock the
growth you need

Is this familiar?

“My business needs better marketing but I don’t have the skills.

“I don’t know if my marketing suppliers are delivering results. What now?

“My marketing is ad hoc – how do I get smarter with it?

“I spend too much time on marketing, and I don’t know if I’m doing it well.

I wish I could afford a really good marketing manager.”

SME CATCH 22

Is your business being held back from growing by the challenge of getting good marketing?
You’re not alone.

And yet – as you know – in this competitive world, effective marketing is key to success.

You need a way to access “big business” thinking on a small business budget.

You need a trusted advisor on your executive team.

But how?

Breaking through SME Marketing
Catch 22

Employing a senior marketing manager isn’t easy; hard to find, even harder to afford.* Entrust things to an external agency, as an SME you’ll get “little care, even less responsibility”.

A junior just won’t bring the level of advice and leadership you need.

And trying to do it yourself takes too much time and involves too much uncertainty; your marketing ends up sporadic, poorly managed and inadequately optimised. And suppliers can take advantage of you.

It’s the SME marketing Catch 22.

Now there’s a solution. A hybrid service model that adds real fire-power to your team in a way you can afford.

* Average salary marketing manager with 10 years experience $120,000

Get a Marketing Superhero on your team!

Inside-OutHouse is the solution that drives your marketing from the inside but integrates support from outside – in an affordable package that’s made for SMEs.

Inside-OutHouse puts a highly-qualified Senior Marketing Professional on your team.

They get to know your business, care about it and to be accountable to it just as you are. But they’re there part-time so you can afford them.

How do we find part-time senior specialists?

We don’t – they don’t really exist. It works because we employ them full-time and deploy them across two or three businesses, spreading their cost.

They love the diversity. You’ll love their abilities.

And unlike an internal hire, your manager comes backed by a ready-assembled, multi-skilled team of experts in strategy, digital, creative, social and media that they bring to bear on your business depending on the needs they identify.

How does it work?
A proven framework for success.

Refined over several business types, our methodology identifies and delivers
just what you need to get results - and nothing you don't.

A good marketing plan is a beautiful thing; it front-loads a lot of thinking so that once in place your team can focus on execution and optimisation.

We have a structured process we call Strategic Marketing Blueprint that will extract, analyse and asses critical marketing inputs and craft it into the kind of plan you always felt you should have on order to really take advantage of your business opportunities

This plan is offered on a subsidised fixed fee. On completion, you choose to retain your manager to drive its implementation, or make other arrangements – it’s up to you. Either way, you’ll have a great plan to work off.

We agree with you how much time and what essential skills you’ll need from your manager and introduce an appropriate person for the role.

You’ll pay a fixed monthly fee for an agreed period. Of course, if things don’t work out, you’re not locked in.

Your manager joins your team, rolls up the sleeves and gets on with driving the business forward – in partnership with you and your team. Any external specialist agency services will be according to your budget, quoted and approved by you. We’re happy to maintain your existing suppliers if you have them – but we’ll conduct an assessment of their effectiveness and value. If they’re under-performing we’ll agree with you whether we drive them harder or replace them.

In the real world, some things go better than expected, others less well. Things change. And marketing needs to be constantly adjusted as results data comes to hand. Your manager will ensure the right data is being collected and use it to guide your marketing activity towards success, building on what performs best, making every dollar work harder. You’ll get full transparency and reporting across every aspect – in as much detail as you want.

SOLUTION PHASES

How we add serious horsepower to your business.

The Inside-OutHouse Service module
is broken into two phases.

SOLUTION PHASES

PHASE 01.

Marketing Blueprint;
professional strategic planning

Good planning isn’t imposed on a business, it’s drawn from within it. Your Marketing Manager works closely with you and collaborates with your team through the critical planning phase
Here’s how it works:

A period of immersive research and insight gathering into your business, your sector and your competitors.

We’ll sit and have a ‘fireside chat’ with your key stakeholders to collect the personal wisdom and insight that’s rarely documented anywhere.

A consensus-oriented development and orientation session.

We develop your Marketing BluePrint, a comprehensive document that provides the necessary foundations of good brand and marketing planning including:

What are we going to say (Brand, messaging and value proposition)
What are we trying the achieve and how will we measure performance (metrics)
Who do we want to talk to (the target market)
Where will we say it (channels we will use)
When will we say it (tactical plan)
What do we need to spend (budget)
Competitive review
Review of current tools, processes and materials

Submission of the plan and discussion.

At the completion of this phase you may choose to continue to work with us or not.

Understanding you might be hesitant to commit to an untried team, if you prefer, we can start the process by consulting with you to develop a fully articulated strategic Marketing Blueprint which identifies recommended activity and the amount of Marketing Manager time required to manage its implementation.

The Planning is a fixed fee item but we share your risk by subsidising the cost of building it. The fee covers 70 to 80% of the time we generally spend on it, so you buy it under cost. And once it’s complete, you decide whether you want to retain Inside-OutHouse to implement it, or go down another track.

SOLUTION PHASES

Phase 02.

Implementation;
delivery of the plan

The marketing plan has identified the appropriate channels, resources, propositions and more. Now it needs to be turned into reality – on time and on budget.

This process is highly variable depending on business needs; it can involve some or all the below:

Manage timelines and budgets to ensure plan is successfully delivered.

Leverage and manage Permission specialist team resources;

  • Brand development
  • Social strategy
  • Search advertising and optimisation
  • Media planning and buying
  • Creative and production
  • Messaging
  • Design
  • Artwork, illustration, photography, retouching etc

Delivery of all approved assets and deliverables to ensure the success of the campaign.

Report, adjust and optimise activity. Staying close to your business performance, responding rapidly and tweaking for success:

  • Weekly WIP meeting – face-to-face and on the phone
  • Monthly monitoring and reporting
  • Quarterly reviews, benchmarking and objective setting
  • Annual plan updates
Yes, this needs strong, capable hands and that’s where your Inside-OutHouse Marketing Manager comes in. He or she will take responsibility for its execution and effectiveness, meeting with and reporting to you on an agreed basis.

Supporting this will be well-managed specialist services provided from Inside-OutHouse’s agency Permission, along with any other suppliers as agreed.

Why do we put so much emphasis
on strategic blueprint branding?

Today’s marketing world can be overwhelming. Channels, tools and tactics have exploded from dozens to literally hundreds, and now strategy is as much what not to do, as what to do.

A business without a well-articulated strategy is like an orchestra without a conductor – individual interpretations are played at cross purposes and the result is a mess. This is the case in most SMEs.

Our Strategic Blueprint identifies your sustainable value proposition and delivers a shared vision, strategy and an actionable plan that your team own and believe in. It will serve your broader business ambition and maximise your opportunities.

Having a great plan focuses your marketing – and your team – on a powerful new future. Clients generally find the process unifying and deeply motivating.
